Outdoor Counselling

Counselling doesn’t have to be behind closed doors—it can unfold outdoors, surrounded by nature and fresh air.

This 60-minute outdoor session is a dedicated time for you to reconnect with yourself while being immersed in nature. Many clients find that this combination offers a soothing and grounding effect, reducing feelings of anxiety and encouraging a sense of freedom.

Nature can also provide fresh perspectives and insights into your inner world and life situations. Through movement, symbols, and metaphors—like the steady flow of a river or the changes of the seasons—it helps unlock emotions and clarity in ways that feel organic and meaningful.

Is outdoor counselling for me?

I offer outdoor sessions throughout the year in central Warwick, UK. We can walk and talk, sit somewhere and talk, or combine walking, talking, and sitting as we go—whatever works at the time. We can also toggle between meeting outdoors and online, depending on your schedule and the weather. Some benefits include:

  • Being surrounded by nature can naturally reduce stress and anxiety, providing a soothing backdrop that promotes relaxation and emotional balance.

  • The open space and movement of walking or being outdoors can help unlock emotions and make it easier to process difficult thoughts in a non-restrictive setting.

  • Nature has a way of sparking fresh ideas and helping you see things more clearly. Whether it’s the open sky giving you a sense of possibility or the steady rhythm of walking helping you organise your thoughts, being outdoors can shift your mindset in surprising and helpful ways.

  • Outdoor counselling removes the pressure of traditional face-to-face interactions, making it a great option if you find direct eye contact or confined spaces uncomfortable. You may find it easier to open up in an open space.

  • Combining physical movement with emotional exploration allows you to reconnect with yourself in a deeper way, creating a sense of connectedness and overall well-being.

Spending time outdoors isn’t just good for your mind—it’s great for your body too. Being in nature can boost your mood by increasing “happy hormones” like serotonin and endorphins, thanks to the fresh air, sunlight, and gentle movement.

Note: Whilst privacy can be more challenging outdoors, I will take reasonable steps to ensure confidentiality and privacy during the session. We’ll discuss and agree on how to manage this.

“Let nature soothe, ground, challenge, and open us to connect with other possibilities.”
